How do I back up my data?

Go to Settings → Backup & export. You have two ways, and you can use both:

  • Copy to iCloud (iPhone). Turn it on once and Silo keeps a daily copy of your records in your own iCloud. Receipt photos stay on the phone.
  • Export a backup file. Send it anywhere you trust through the share sheet: Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop, or another app.

With neither, deleting the app deletes your data for good.

How do I move to a new phone?

With Copy to iCloud: on the new iPhone, sign in to the same Apple Account, install Silo and choose to restore on its first screen.

With a backup file: get the file to the new phone (AirDrop, Quick Share or a file transfer), install Silo, then go to Settings → Backup & export → Restore from a backup and pick the file. Your accounts, transactions, budgets and rules come back as they were.

How do I erase everything?

Settings → Erase all data wipes the records on the phone, along with this phone's copies in iCloud. You can also simply delete the app. There is no server copy to chase.

The app lock won't accept my face or fingerprint

Silo uses the same check as the rest of your phone. If the prompt doesn't appear, make sure Silo is allowed to use it: on iPhone, open the Settings app → Face ID & Passcode; on Android, Settings → Security & privacy → Biometrics. Your phone's passcode always works as the fallback.

Widgets aren't updating

Widgets read from data on your phone and move on to the new day by themselves. If one looks out of date after you log something, open Silo once and it catches up.

Setting up Apple Pay or bank notifications

Both run through Apple's Shortcuts app, and Silo walks you through them: Settings → Apple Pay, or Settings → Bank notifications (iOS 27, Beta). When Silo isn't sure which account or amount a tap or a notice means, it asks you instead of guessing. Tell us which bank or e-wallet it was, and we'll teach Silo its wording.

Something looks wrong with my numbers

Tell us what you expected and what you saw; a screenshot helps. Every figure in Silo comes from entries you can see, so if one doesn't add up, we want to know.

Feature requests

Very welcome. Silo says no to anything that would send your data off your phone. Everything else is on the table.
