These terms are the agreement between you and the developer of Silo for using the Silo app. By downloading or using Silo you agree to them. They are written to be read, not skimmed, and they are short, because Silo is simple.
The short version: Silo is a ledger you keep yourself. It is not a bank, it moves no money, and it gives no financial advice. You pay once, your data stays on your phone, and looking after backups is in your hands.
What Silo is, and is not
Silo is a personal finance tracker. Every account, balance, and transaction in it is a record you made, by typing it, dictating it, scanning a receipt, or letting a shortcut you set up log it. It is a private notebook with arithmetic, not a window into any real bank account.
- Silo is not a financial institution. It cannot hold, send, receive, or move money, and it never connects to your bank, e-wallet, card, or broker.
- Silo provides no financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Figures such as safe-to-spend amounts, interest previews, statement estimates, and portfolio values are calculations over the numbers you entered. They may differ from your bank's own figures, and your bank's records are always the authoritative ones.
- Choosing a bank or brand inside Silo only labels your own record. It creates no relationship between you (or Silo) and that institution, and no institution endorses Silo.
Your purchase
Silo is a one-time purchase on the App Store or Google Play. There is no subscription, no account, and no in-app purchase. The purchase itself is handled entirely by the store you bought it from: Apple, under your Apple Account, or Google, under your Google Account. For App Store copies, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the app license; for Google Play copies, the Google Play Terms of Service apply. These terms supplement them. Refunds are handled by the store you bought the app from, through its standard process.
Your data, your responsibility
Everything you enter is stored on your device and belongs to you. There is no server, and the only copy outside your phone is one you choose to make (see the Privacy Policy). That also means:
- Backups are yours to make. Settings → Backup & export makes a file you choose where to keep, and on iPhone you can turn on Copy to iCloud. Deleting the app with no export, phone backup or iCloud copy permanently deletes your data, and nobody, including the developer, can recover it.
- Exports are plaintext. A backup file can be read by anything that can open it. Store it somewhere you trust.
- Losing your phone means what it usually means. Your data is protected by your device's own passcode and encryption, plus Silo's optional app lock.
Beta features
Some features are marked Beta in the app, such as logging from bank notifications and reading receipts with Apple Intelligence. They work, but they read text Silo did not write, so they can misread it. Check what they log; when Silo is not sure, it asks you.
Acceptable use
Use Silo for tracking your own finances (or finances you legitimately manage). Don't use it to break the law, misrepresent records to others as bank-issued statements, or attempt to reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the app outside the rules of the store you bought it from.
No warranty
Silo is provided "as is" and "as available." The developer works to keep it accurate and reliable, but does not warrant that the app is error-free, that calculations will match your bank, or that the app will always be available or supported on future iOS or Android versions. To the maximum extent permitted by law, all implied warranties are disclaimed.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer's total liability for any claim arising out of your use of Silo is limited to the amount you paid for the app. The developer is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost data you did not back up, or financial decisions made on the basis of figures in the app. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
Changes
If these terms change, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top. Continuing to use Silo after a change means you accept the updated terms. If a change is significant, it will also be noted in the app.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you use Silo elsewhere, local consumer protections that apply to you remain yours.
